Creating my website – CSS & Div Tags.

During today’s Dreamweaver workshop, we learnt how to attach a style sheet and define a place on the page with a div tag. After following and making notes on how to do so, I followed up by making a test home page to make sure I understood fully and will be able to achieve this in the future.

Once you have index.html > New > CSS.

New CSS (drop down) > Tag > Body > CSS styles.

Choose font family.

Background – choose colour.

Can choose background image, whether it repeats, whether it scrolls with page.

Defining a place on the page with a div tag:

  • Insert
  • Layout object
  • Div tag
  • ID ‘wrapper’ (around everything)
  • New css rule

  • Rule definition (css. Style)
  • (Brings up box which allows to style)
  • Box
  • Unclick same for all on margin
  • Right auto
  • Left auto
  • (This will centralize)
  • Wdith 900px
  • Height 500px
  • Border
  • Style same for all
  • Solid
  • Width 1px
  • Black border
  • Apply
  • Ok
  • Set font
  • Block
  • Text align
  • Center
