Edirol RO9.

On Friday 1st February, we had an introduction into using the Edirol RO9.

When taking out the Ediroal RO9 from the Media Loan Shoap, we are given the following in a case:

Recorder + SD card

Plug

USB connector

Headphones

External microphone and chord

Mic clip

  • Can be used with batteries.
  • Power button on the side.
  • R-09HR will appear on screen when turned on.
  • Menu button for menu.
  • Recorder set up – sample rate can remain same.
  • Record mode – left and right to change mp3 (mp3 as a jpeg, wav as tif)
  • Record symbol button is the select button.
  • Press menu to return.
  • Option SD card – format card (always format before using).
  • Pressing red button once should start flashing – in taking data but not recording.
  • Should say 00:00:00 – recording time.
  • To the right R – shows how much time of recording there is dependent on recording quality and SD card size.
  • Press stop before returning back to the menu.
  • To record, press the red button again. Solid red light means recording. Counter should be going up. Stop button to stop recording. Creates file and gives details.
  • Headphone jack at the top. Play back to hear what the recording sounds like.
  • Should be peaking between 12 and 6 when someone is talking. Input level (left hand side) up and down. Between 0 – 100.
  • Having the microphone in different places when recording them will sound different depending on how close/far.
  • Microphone gain L and H on the back. Change this if you can’t change input level fully.
  • Input for microphone by input level buttons in side. Microphone picks up less back up noise.
  • Take everything about the environment into consideration for a good recording.
  • When finished, remove SD card from bottom to upload to laptop.
